09-11-2007 - Class of 1967 - Service Project Giant Success!
Congratulations to Chairman Ann Little Cahoon and her committee on the success of our first ever ClassService Project. Classmate David Fairbourn kindly "fronted" the committee with money at the beginning of the summer so that school supplies could be purchased ahead of time for our project. Ann Cahoon spent the summer finding the best values on notebooks, backpacks, crayons, glue, pencils, and playground balls for our adopted inner-city school, Woodrow Wilson. Amazingly, Ann was able to purchase $10,000 worth of products for only $1700. 'Way to go', Ann!
Money collected at the reunion from donations and the Silent Auction went to the Service Project and to our newly established Titan Scholarship fund.
On Saturday, August 25, 2007, classmates, family and friends met at the Olympus Cafeteria to put together packets of school supplies for the children of Woodrow Wilson. Stan "the Man" Schulze was at the school shooting photographs. Cece Foxley, former English teacher to many Olympus alumni, paid a visit to the cafeteria to say "Hello" to the Class of 1967 and to donate to our Service Project. The committee provided delicious treats--fruit, cookies, breads, drinks. Along with the hot, hard work, former classmates were able to visit, laugh and enjoy eachothers' company. Everyone had a great afternoon!
