Olympus High School Class of 1967 - Latest News

09-02-2007 - 40th Reunion a Huge Success!!

Olympus Class of 1967 "Paints the Town Red" or rather GREEN and GRAY.

August 24, 2007--Over 185 people (Olympus alumni and their partners) filled Ballroom C at Little America in downtown Salt Lake City to renew friendships, catch up on old times, laugh, eat, and bid on auction items donated by classmates.  Money from the auction went to school supplies for our adopted intercity school, Woodrow Wilson Elementary.  Additional money collected during the evening will be used to establish an Olympus Scholarship fund.

Food, drinks and ambience were great, but the company was even better, as many former Titans attended their first reunion EVER.  Among those first timers were former Titan studentbody president Larry Jensen and former S.B. secretary Sandy Miles Perry.  Former senior class secretary Lynne Erickson Whiting and her husband Allen came all the way from Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts.  Former senior class vice president Irving Jacobsen, of Atlanta, Georgia, greeted his classmates and imparted words of wisdom.

Highlights of the evening included a program emceed by "sparkling" Nikki Langton Firpo and "witty" David Vierig who kept us laughing about the 1960s.  David came to us from Rudioso, New Mexico and sported a fetching retro-ti-dyed T-shirt.  Nikki, of Reno, Nevada, looked like she stepped out of the 1967 yearbook.  Some folks don't seem to age.

A slide show (PowerPoint) highlighted events of the '60s, our high school years and our past reunions--played to '60s tunes "My Generation" by the WHO, "Be True to Your School" by the Beach Boys and "When I'm Sixty-Four" by the Beatles.  CDs of the PP presentation were later sold.

While the number of classmates in attendance (112) was an all time record, everyone wondered about the other 500 classmates who weren't there.  "What ever happened to . . ." was the most common question of the evening.

View some photos of attendees on this site under "Reunions", "Photo Galleries", "Look at us Now" or "We Got Together".  View 885 photos of the evening and the Saturday Service Project event taken by Stan Schulze (husband of classmate Donna Nielsen) at http://www.flickr.com/photos/olympushs40year/

Thanks to Stan and Donna, Erin, David, Sheri and all of the reunion committee and to everyone who attended for creating such a memorable evening.
